Explore an autumnal still life in the morning, developing your drawing through composition, shape, tone, texture and pattern. Take your favourite ideas and turn them into a lino-cut design, learning how to carve, ink and print your own artwork.
Morning — Draw the Autumnal Still Life
Observe an arranged still life of seasonal objects, natural forms and interesting textures.
Explore composition, proportion, line, tone, light, shadow, texture and pattern. Experiment with different drawing materials and techniques, then develop your ideas into a strong design suitable for lino printing.

Afternoon — Lino Cutting & Printmaking
Transform your drawing into a lino print.
Transfer your design onto a lino block and learn how to carve away areas to create the printing surface. Explore positive and negative space and discover how line and texture can create contrast and detail.
Ink your finished block and experiment with placement, composition and layering to create a series of handmade prints. Discover how the natural variations of the process give every print its own unique character.
Create, Print & Take Home
Develop an original autumnal drawing and transform it into a finished lino-cut print.
