Service Description
Introduction to Character Design Workshop Date: 8 April Time: 13:30-16:30 Cost: £50 (includes all materials and refreshments) Ever wondered what makes a character truly stand out in a game or comic? This dynamic, hands-on workshop is the perfect follow-on from our Game Design session, or a standalone experience for anyone excited to create original characters. Students will focus on designing a character for the game they worked on in the morning session—or, if they missed it, they can design a character for someone else’s game or invent a completely new game of their own. What You’ll Learn In this workshop, we’ll explore key techniques for creating memorable, expressive characters: 1. Silhouette – Learn how strong outlines make characters instantly recognisable, even in shadow. Shape and posture are tools to make designs readable and iconic. 2. Palette – Colour sets mood, reflects personality, and helps tell a story through your character. 3. Exaggeration – Stylising features like size, movement, or expressions makes characters dynamic and memorable without losing clarity. 4. Shape Language – Circles, squares, and triangles communicate traits like strength, friendliness, or danger. Workshop Activities 1. Sketch character concepts, experimenting with poses, expressions, and features. 2. Refine your favourite design into a fully realised character concept. 3.Receive feedback and learn tips to make your character ready for a game, comic, or animated story world. By the end of the session, students will leave with a portfolio of sketches and a finished character concept, ready to step into their own game or creative project. No experience is required—just bring your creativity and curiosity!
Cancellation Policy
Holiday Workshop Booking Policy 1. Booking & Confirmation - All workshop bookings must be made in advance through our official registration system. - Confirmation of booking is subject to availability and will be provided upon successful payment or registration. 2. Cancellation & Refund Policy - If you need to cancel your child’s place in a holiday workshop, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time. - As our staff and materials are arranged in advance, cancellations made within 24 hours of the workshop will be non-refundable. - For cancellations made with more than 24 hours notice, we may offer a refund or credit towards a future workshop at our discretion. 3. Attendance & Punctuality - Please ensure your child arrives on time for the workshop, as late arrivals may disrupt the session and impact their experience. - If your child is unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, please notify us as soon as possible. 4. Safety & Supervision - Our workshops are led by trained professionals who ensure a safe and engaging environment for all children. - Parents/guardians must provide accurate emergency contact details at the time of booking. 5. Code of Conduct - To maintain a positive atmosphere, we expect all children to behave respectfully toward staff and other participants. - Any disruptive or inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the workshop without a refund.
